This is one of the greatest games of all time. Nothing comes close to in the genre. The world is so immersive and the lore is so rich. This is an absolute must play!

Love this game and don't get the hate. I like that they made it actually feasible to play this as a first person shooter (Fallout 3 and New Vegas, while I love them, you HAVE to use VATs to be successful at all with any guns, let's be honest). Cool story with good twists, the classic Fallout humor, big map with cool set pieces and characters. I get the complaints with the way they changed the level up system to less of a traditional RPG style, but I don't think that we should throw the baby out with the bathwater the way people do with how they write this game off.

Fallout 4 will always be special to me because it was my first Fallout game, and it was the game that made me fall in love with the Fallout universe in the first place. I loved exploring the Commonwealth, discovering its factions, characters, and strange locations, but at the same time the game has always felt slightly incomplete. You can see traces of much bigger ideas that were either cut or scaled back during development, with cancelled quests, locations, systems, and concepts that could have made the Commonwealth feel even deeper. The main story has also received a lot of criticism, and while I agree that its choices and consequences are nowhere near as complex as Fallout: New Vegas, I still think Fallout 4 tells an interesting story. The conflict between the Institute, Brotherhood of Steel, Railroad, and Minutemen gives the player some genuinely interesting questions to think about, and the game is filled with memorable side quests and excellent companions that often make the world more interesting than the main plot itself. Where Fallout 4 really improved the series, though, was in its gameplay. The gunplay feels vastly better than the older Fallout games, movement is smoother, weapons feel more satisfying, and the redesigned power armor finally makes you feel like you are wearing a massive piece of military equipment rather than just another set of clothing. Weapon and armor customization, settlement building, crafting, and the improved looting system also give exploration much more purpose. Even if Fallout 4 does not have the same role-playing depth as New Vegas, it is easily one of the most enjoyable Fallout games to actually play moment to moment.
